The Hot Zone, Explained: Double Cash, Double Weight
What the WARDOGS Hot Zone does, how it differs from the Control Zone, and when to chase it or stay away.

Two zones, two jobs
WARDOGS runs two special areas that new players confuse. The Control Zone is the win condition: a roughly 2×2 km random area where the team with the most players scores, settling about every 30 seconds, first to 100 wins. The Hot Zone is a different beast — a yellow, moving circle that multiplies your value while you stand in it.
Control Zone versus Hot Zone
| Attribute | Control Zone | Hot Zone |
|---|---|---|
| Shape and behaviour | Fixed random area each match | Yellow, moving circular area |
| Win condition | Yes — scores toward 100 points | No — modifies scoring weight |
| Scoring effect | Out-numbering team scores | Players count as two for scoring |
| Cash effect | Normal payouts | Cash doubled |
| XP effect | Normal gain | XP doubled |
| Passive income | None described | Described as hundreds of dollars per minute |
| Link to towers | None | Pulled by the Hot Zone Magnet |
The doubling is the important part. Inside the Hot Zone you are worth two bodies for the Control Zone fight and you earn twice the cash and XP. That is why the Hot Zone is the highest-value real estate on the map even though it is not the win counter itself.
The Hot Zone Magnet
Four towers sit on the map. Each one is captured by climbing to its upper level and operating a PC terminal, and each captured tower reveals one digit of a code. Assemble the full code and your team launches the Hot Zone Magnet, which drags the Hot Zone toward the tower your team holds. The tower codes page walks the capture flow and weighs the cost of the tower run.
When to chase the Hot Zone
Use this checklist to decide:
- Your team already holds the Control Zone nearby, so doubling weight is safe.
- You have a squad, not a solo push — the Zone draws fire from all three teams.
- You need cash now and can survive the attention; the passive income is described as hundreds per minute.
- A tower run is viable, letting you magnet the Zone to ground you already control.
- You are below level 9 and still have the store discount — double cash stretches a smaller fund further.
When to stay away
- You are alone. The Zone multiplies your value but also your visibility to every enemy.
- Your team is losing the Control Zone; doubling weight there does not help if you cannot hold presence.
- You are low on the life’s gear and cannot afford to die — a Hot Zone death is an expensive one.
- The match is about to end and the extra cash will not change your settlement.
- You have not yet learned the passive-income cadence and will likely get picked before it pays.
The money angle
Holding the Hot Zone doubles your verified payouts: a Control Zone kill assist at $800 becomes $1,600 inside the Hot Zone, and recon marks at $100 each effectively double too. On top of that, the brief describes passive income as hundreds of dollars per minute while you hold. That stacking is why the Zone is the fastest legitimate cash engine in the game — and why three teams will contest it.
Clean-play note
BULKHEAD’s 12 September 2026 rules are blunt about this: cash-bug abuse and organised XP farming are punishable. The Hot Zone doubling is a built-in mechanic, so earn the extra cash by holding the circle; do not multiply it through a bug, or you risk a reset or ban.
Stacking the win bonus on doubled cash
The doubled Hot Zone cash combines with the match-end bonuses in a way worth planning around. Surviving to the end refunds about 90 percent of your carried gear value, and the winning team takes an extra 30 percent on the match’s earnings — both single-source figures. Because the Hot Zone doubles your per-action cash, the win bonus is applied to an already-larger base if you did most of your earning inside the Zone. A medic or transporter who works the Hot Zone therefore sees the settlement multipliers compound on top of the doubling, which is the mathematical reason the Zone is the richest real estate even before the passive income is counted.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Hot Zone do in WARDOGS?
The Hot Zone is a yellow, moving circular area. Players inside it count as two for scoring, and their cash and XP are doubled while they hold it.
Is the Hot Zone the same as the Control Zone?
No. The Control Zone is a fixed random area where the out-numbering team scores toward 100. The Hot Zone is a separate moving circle that doubles your weight and your rewards.
How much passive income does the Hot Zone pay?
The brief describes Hot Zone passive income as 'hundreds of dollars per minute.' That is a single-source description, not an exact per-second rate.
What is the Hot Zone Magnet?
Collecting the four tower codes lets a team launch the Hot Zone Magnet, which pulls the Hot Zone toward the tower that team controls.
